The Keg - Fort Worth, TX

While we were still in Texas we had to visit one of favorite places, The Keg. It is a chain but it is really a good one. Cowboy Ron took charge of the wine ordering and found one that was from close to home. It was relaxing to sip on and enjoy conversation.

I was craving lettuce. Well, lettuce that was covered in blue cheese, tomatoes and bacon. I am not sure if it qualifies as a true salad but it was tasty eating it with a knife and fork.

The guys both wanted steaks so they ordered the dinner that included salads, bacon wrapped filets, twice baked potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and grilled vegetables. Oh my, what a treat!

My appetite was unusually low this particular evening so I just requested the Crab Cake appetizer as my entree. I really wanted a plate full of crabby goodness, creamy and crunchy all at the same time. I squirted them with lemon and applied generous amounts of tartar to each bite. With all that extra effort you would have thought it would have been delicious. They were just ok, they tasted they were prepared in a facility far from where we were and they were warmed to order.

My disappointing entree order was soon made right by the Hot Brownie with Ice Cream and the Creme Brûlée... The desserts were a nice ending to a mellow evening. Life is pretty swell being Melissa Good Taste.
