New Years Day - 2012

Hello my lovely bloggies! How was your New Years? And your Monday off of work? Hello, 4 day work week! My New Years Day was a fantastic one, let me walk you through it...

 .
I am a big fan of the Jack in the Box egg roll! With extra sweet and sour sauce no one can stop me! We started off our day with these and a few tacos. Hey, we were on holiday!

We made up for our grease fest for time at the beach. Me: running. Scott: surfing. I logged a 30 minute jaunt at Emma Wood State Beach. After sweating it out I kicked off my shoes to soak my feet and stretch in the Pacific. I watched Scott catch waves, it was fun. I wish I took pictures of him surfing!

I have been complaining about not having better running shoes so my honey took me to the Pacific View Mall and spoiled me. I have brand new hot pink sneaks! Lucky girl.

We continued our Asian food theme until the end of the day. We stopped in at the Golden China in Ventura to catch the first half of the Cowboy vs. Giants game. It was a blowout so we ate our food and wandered home. The food wasn't too shabby but the atmosphere was dicey. We sat in the bar to eat because of the game and it was a bad mistake. It was dark and kind of creepy.

All in all it was an awesome day.  It is HOT in Southern California - 80 degrees today. So bizarre! I enjoy winter... cuddling up and wearing cozy sweat shirts. What the heck is happening?!

New Years Eve - 2011

I decided that I was going to send 2011 out with some sweat! I entered the 'Til the Sunset Goes Down 5K - in Ventura and I rocked it! I ran my personal best of 32 minutes. I am just getting faster and faster, you can call me "Grease Lightning" from now on. After that good sweat I needed a good dinner...

Scott and I decided to enjoy a dinner at Azu, it has kind of been our go to spot in Ojai lately. We both ordered cups of Winter Root Soup - basically all fun squashes, turnips and parsnips. It was very comforting.

Of course I ordered the Sea Bass and Risotto. Shocker? Lol.

Scott went outside the box and ordered the Duck Quesadilla. He loved it. It was served with a salsa verde and hit the spot, fun and delicious.

Happy New Years from our family to yours!

Acupuncture - I did that!

I have had this bizarre pain in my shoulder blade area since I started running. I am not sure if it is from tension, dehydration or something else but Scott swears by his acupuncturist so I gave it a go yesterday. Dr. Lee is located in Thousand Oaks and I have to say I am a believer. I walked in with pain and left, and woke up with none at all! I am usually a skeptic about this kind of stuff so I am shocked!

Praise the lord. No pain today!

Work it girl!

Welcome to my Gym - It is in the downstairs portion of my house. It has everything that a girl could want in a workout routine!

For a solid month I have been movin' and groovin' - I have used the treadmill like it is my religion. I shouldn't neglect my elliptical machine but I just have taken a knack to jogging. I have been enjoying Holiday treats so I feel this is the least I can do for my body!

Peacock Acres 5k - Prunedale, CA

As I started Week 4 in my "Couch to 5k" program I discovered a problem - I squeeze my fists tight and I carry that tension in my shoulders. And, it really hurts! So I came up with the idea of carry eggs while I jog to keep my hands open. Sounds weird but I decided to give it a try in a local 5k.

It worked! I finished in 39 minutes. I was very proud of myself considering we ran hills and in sand! Wow, it was a workout.

Cheers! Margaritas for champions!
