Pete's Breakfast House - Ventura, CA

My Mom came to town last week for a short visit and I was so happy. She is my partner in crime when wanting to explore new restaurants. Pete's Breakfast house was featured on 'Diners Drive-Ins and Dives' awhile back and i wanted to see what the hype was all about so he went West for the beach and got in line. It was a full house, so you are asked to write your name down and wait until your party is called...

After looking over the menu nothing seemed too weird or unique just your standard dishes. I was wanting to try something funky and fun, their lunch special sounded great "Salmon Tacos" - I was kind of hoping I could order those for breakfast but no such luck.

A+ for cool U.S. History mural on the wall where we were seated!

My mom ordered the "Pancake Sandwich" - 2 Pancakes, 2 Sausage, 2 Eggs. It was all cooked perfectly fine and was quite filling... Just fine.

I went for the pecan Pancakes and extra crispy bacon on the side. It was totally nutrageous! Tons of pecans inside the batter and out. I was almost tired of all the crunch so I shooed some to the side. The pancake batter is one of the better I have seen and appreciate the bacon actually coming out crispy.

Was I totally wowed and thought they deserved a spot on "Triple D"? No, not really. They are just putting out a nice breakfast spread but truly nothing that thousands of other places do on the daily. It was good don't get me wrong, but if you want to recommend a restaurant that does breakfast out of bounds check out the Ol' South in Fort Worth!

Come on Guy Fieri show me something fantastic!
