Pier 46 Seafood Market - Templeton, CA

When i travel back and forth to my parents I like to know a good spot to stop halfway. I have been reading good things about this seafood market in the Trader Joe's shopping market off vineyard in Templeton. Why not give it a try?!

I ordered the Halibut Fish and Chips and they were amazing. They had the batter cooked just right, the texture crispy and well salted. The fish was moist and barely need tarter sauce for dipping. The fries were mixed in with sweet potato for a salty and sweet combination.

I was more than impressed with my food. I will be definitely stopping by in the near future for more fishy fun.

McPhee's Grill - Templeton, CA

The last time I went to McPhee's I was just a wee one showing at the Templeton Sales Yard in the junior Buckaroo. So that was quite some time ago and decided this trip to Paso would be a nice time to re-visit.

Some bites to enjoy before dinner. They serve olive oil with their bread, I asked for butter.

The Mushroom Soup to start. It looks beautiful right? It tasted just fine and served as a nice compliment to my buttered bread.

That is a whole lot of action on one plate! The Mahi Mahi crusted with macadamia, Asian slaw, cucumber salad and wasabi mashed potatoes. The sauce was a terrific ginger sesame. I ate and ate until there was nothing left on the plate!

Both Cowboy Ron and Scott got steaks and declared them just so so. Nothing that should be written home about.

But this, this is something I want to bathe in daily. Hello Creme Brule. Best I have had in a long time. I pretty much polished this one off myself!

If you are looking for a more contemporary dining experience come here. Looking for steaks? Maybe head down the road. That was my experience. What was yours?

AJ Spurs - Templeton, CA

My favorite thing about having horse shows in Paso Robles is the opportunity to eat fantastic food while I am there! Just a short drive down the 101 from Paso you will come to a old, country town - Tempelton. Stop in and try one of the many fantastic restaurants, like AJ Spurs.

As soon as you are seated they bring out this Chuckwagon Stew. Served family style, along with sides of beans and salsa. Totally my idea of getting this party started! Yahooo...

I ordered the Halibut because I just cannot seem to eat enough fish. I know I was at a cowboy place and should have ordered a steak but I am that I didn't. My meal was fantastic. I ate almost everything but not the Texas Toast, I have never been a fan.

Next up is Scott's Bacon wrapped Filet. The bacon was not cooked long enough but the steak was excellente! The vegetables were steamed to perfection!

Those are the family style potatoes served, they were pretty good. In the background is Krissi's porkchop. She said it was awesome and cleaned her plate.

They even served after dinner drinks! So cool. Mine was Frangelico, Amaretto and cream. Sinfully delicious.

Templeton was so nice, next stop McPhee's!
